How to recover an unsaved word document..?

“i was working on a very important letter on word, suddenly Word just closed

on its own and i cant find the letter anywhere. is there any way i can

recover it?” many computer users ask this question & even they have faced this situation.

In windows Operating Systems these types of files are stored in a default location,

In Windows Vista / Seven:

%userprofile%\AppData\Microsoft\Word\*.asd

In Windows XP:

%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\*.asd

By default, the [AppData/Application Data] folder is a Hidden Folder, first you have to change the settings to see the files inside these folders, and the auto saved files are with the asd extension. Make a backup of the asd files, you wish to recover.

Then, you are ready to the final process. Just open the required the asd file from the original location [ex: %userprofile%\AppData\Microsoft\Word\*.asd or %userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\*.asd] , probably it will show an error indicating “Not Supported File System” . Don’t Worry, just ignore the error. Finally, restart the Computer & Open the Word Application, you may see the Desired Word document showing at the Recovery Pane. You may open the Word Document & Save the Doc as you prefer.
